Willow's Weekly - Week 14 - New Clinic and Royal Birth

Somebody finally decided to do something about the hospital. Mostly because there were a lot of papparazzi waiting for Princess Sima to give birth to the second royal baby. It wouldn't do to have a shabby hospital - not when various charities around the world donated so generously to have it 'rebuilt'.

As you can see, it's not 'rebuilt' at all, it's the same old shell, and most of the equipment is second-rate - a lot of that donation money seems to have gotten lost somehow... And the palace just received a truckload of new furniture. (Not that I'm implying there's a connection there, of course...)
Anyway, I digress... (in a dangerous direction, if I want to keep my job...)

Back to the new and improved clinic!

There's now a dispensary/apothecary as well. We can finally get our medication on the island instead of having to go through Tapuwhai Trading to try and get it imported.

The reception area has been improved as well. It now has vending machines, better seating and more computers for the administration. And there have been more improvements, from the staff lunchroom to the new operating room.

The one thing that bothers me a bit is that the archives, the lab and especially the delivery room are located right next to the morgue, in the basement...

It seems depressing to give birth next to the storage lockers for dead bodies...

Anyway, the hospital was ready at the start of the rain season, just in time for the birth of Princess Sima's new baby. It seems fitting, as her first baby was also the first to be born in the previous new clinic, right after the previous sim-quake. (A 'sim-quake' is is what we call our natural disasters - you know, when the Great Builder in the Sky causes upheaval in our world!)

Much to the disappointment of Henry I and II it's a daughter. Henry I particularly wanted a 'spare' - just to push Filepi's son even further down the line of succession.
(Princess Sima is trying to use this idea as leverage for her own mission to do away with the whole 'only male heirs' thing and drag the royal family into the 21st century.)

Probably in an effort to get the queen on her side, Sima agreed to name the baby Elesabeti.

I hope this Elesabeti has a better life than her predecessors.

Meanwhile even the ghosts are a bit tired of the rain by now.
