Week 19: a new clinic - and a renovated palace

Well, Niua Simoa seems to have been hit by a few natural disasters lately - the most notorious of them being Hurricane EA 1.12.
(After that patch a lot of my save games were broken, so I tested with a copy of NS, and couldn't open any of my saves... Fortunately, Patch 1.14 seems to have fixed it again...)

Meanwhile, Princess Sima is pregnant. The state of healthcare on the island is, of course, deplorable. However, Doctor Daniel Tumeke has managed to get his hands on a lot of the relief funds that were sent to the island after the hurricanes. Normally such money flows directly into the palace treasury, but it looks like Sima found a way to sluice some off to some more worthy causes... Such as Doctor Daniel's new clinic.

So, Niua Simoa finally has a small hospital of its own:

It's not much to look at yet. They don't have money for proper cots, exam tables, operating room supplies, etc. But there's a small overnight room for three people, a reception area with plenty of seating. And good plumbing!

For the moment there are four exam tables, which are basically just re-painted kitchen tables.

There's also a small dispensary, which doubles as the science research facility, since MorcuCorp has decided to withdraw their share in the Pacimfic Research Centre (that big, ugly 'rabbithole' of a building that spoiled the Maus' view of the ocean).

It's all clean, and clutter-free. Mostly because there just isn't any clutter available. :)

The only thing that is well-stocked is the staff refrigerator. (The one they keep lunch in, not the one that is supposed to hold samples and bagged blood!)

Hakopi Palefau is talking about starting an experimental farm with a new research centre, but so far he hasn't found anyone willing to finance his plans.
So he will just have to make do with the miniature garden behind the hospital. His main work is still at the local water treatment plant, but he's a carnivorous plant tender now, and there aren't any carnivorous plants in his lab at work.

Hakopi loves the new garden, and he really, really hopes there will be room for him to have his own lab in the clinic, instead of in that ugly water treatment plant.

In the meantime, the largest portion of the newest hurricane relief money ended up where it was most needed - at least according to the king, who oversees these things.

The newest hurricane (aka as EA patch and EP) also gave the population access to some new and improved hairstyles. The queen was the first to try the latest fashion, of course.

It almost makes up for the fact that the newest hurricane also seems to have destroyed the eye candy sparkles.

Princess Sima doesn't seem impressed by the new bedroom furniture. I think she'd have prefered some more comfortable hospital beds.

And for some reason there seems to be a rift between Henry II and Sifoua Schiffer. I don't think anyone was aware that they were involved, but this does look like a lovers' quarrel to me!

Why else would a man like Henry II be coming out of somebody's house at this hour of the night!
